The Toy Run
How It All Began
When we started our fundraising we didn’t realise the difference it would make to so many individuals and families. One of our Aims in the club since we founded in 1981 was to improve the image of bikers in general. This as since become secondary when we seen the happiness and hear the stories that our small contributions have made and is in fact still making to those who are in need of it.
Early in the 90’s a small girl needed an operation. A fund raising night was held by her family, friends and neighbours to raise the much needed funds and part of the clubs contribution was a Teddy. The Teddy was raffled off on the night and raised 350 punts.
The little girls parents tearfully thanked us which of course encouraged the club to continue with our fund raising and so the Santa Drive was born.
Starting the Run with just 3 bikes, a small Van and of course the big Man in Red himself the club collected 250 punts and plenty of Toys. Today we have now reached in excess of €115,000 that has been shared among the many deserving Charities in and around the Galway area every year.
Without the help and generosity of you the public, the many many bikers that have taken part in the run each year and of course the members of the club who every year have turned out in all sorts of weather have made the Tribes MCC Toy Run a huge success.
Thanks to you all!
